A ten-day celebration of food and drink in the centre of York, built around a daily street market on Parliament Street.

For ten days each September a food market fills Parliament Street and St Sampson's Square with producers, street food and specialist stalls, and it is free to wander round.

The St Sampson's Centre hosts cookery demonstrations, tastings and workshops, while the hands-on Food Factory shows families how everyday foods are made. Self-guided taste trails (including a vegan trail) lead visitors to cafés and restaurants around the city, and there are walking tours, evening music, dinners and other ticketed events.

The festival began in 1997 and has been run since 2007 by a not-for-profit organisation working with City of York Council. The same team also runs a chocolate festival in York at Easter.
