A free one-day artisan food market spread through the historic centre of Wells, with more than 200 stalls.

Wells Food Festival is run by a not-for-profit community interest company set up in 2013 to showcase artisan food and drink producers from Somerset and beyond. A small volunteer team organises it, and local sponsors fund it so that visitors get in free.

For one Sunday in the autumn, more than 200 invited stalls selling food, drink, street food and homewares fill the High Street, Market Place, Town Hall, Cathedral Green, Palace Green, Moat Walk and Recreation Ground. The organisers estimate around 15,000 visitors. There is an English wine marquee, a Food for Thought programme of talks on food issues, a children's zone with cookery workshops and a trail, and a fire stage for barbecue demonstrations.

Several central streets close to traffic on the day; alternative Blue Badge parking is provided and the site has level access. Dogs are not allowed in marquees or indoor spaces, apart from assistance dogs.
