Pershore's August celebration of its plum-growing heritage, ending with a family fun day and the Plum Fayre over the bank holiday.

Pershore has been linked with plum growing for centuries - the Pershore Yellow Egg plum was found in nearby Tiddesley Wood in the 19th century - and each August the town 'goes purple' to celebrate. Events build up to the August bank holiday weekend, with a family fun day and the Pershore Plum Plodders 10k race in Abbey Park on the Sunday and the main Plum Fayre and farmers' market on Bank Holiday Monday.

A Food Village of caterers is set up in Abbey Park, and the programme includes cookery and gardening demonstrations, a classic car show, a motorbike evening, entertainment and stalls selling local plums and plum-themed treats. The Plum Fayre was revived in 1996 by local enthusiasts keen to celebrate the town's fruit-growing past.
