Two months of events celebrating the Vale of Evesham asparagus season, launched each St George's Day at The Fleece Inn, Bretforton.

The Vale of Evesham's asparagus, which has Protected Geographical Indication status, is celebrated with a run of events from St George's Day in April to late June. The traditional launch at The Fleece Inn in Bretforton brings morris dancers, live music, classic cars and the festival mascot Gus the Asparagus Man, before a convoy of Morgans and other classic cars carries the season's first hundred spears to a different destination each year - Croome, the National Trust estate, in 2026.

Other fixtures include the Bretforton Silver Band asparagus auction in the pub courtyard in late May, where locally donated spears are sold to raise money for the band, a smaller church auction, an 'Asparagus Express' steam train on the heritage railway from Broadway, asparagus menus and 'Asparabus' tours of growers and farm shops around the Vale.
