A long-running September weekend that brings Welsh and Borders producers, chefs, talks and debates to venues across Abergavenny.

Abergavenny Food Festival began in 1999, when two local farmers responded to the BSE crisis by inviting 39 producers into the town's Market Hall. It is now a two-day, not-for-profit festival that the organisers say attracts more than 15,000 visitors.

A festival ticket covers 11 venues around the town centre, with 120-plus selected producers, more than 80 chef demonstrations and events, cooking over fire in the Castle Grounds, talks and debates in a dome, a free Kids' Cookery School and live music. Saturday and Sunday have different programmes. Street stalls are now run by the town's own shops and cafés rather than visiting traders.

Tickets are sold in advance, with only a small number released on the day if capacity allows. Under-16s go free. Dogs are not allowed in any of the market venues, although assistance dogs are welcome.
